@poolvolution: Would of loved to re-plumb this one. When pool equipment is turned off with a spa bypass. There's a check valve installed, therefore the spa doesn't drain into pool seeking its same water level. This only happens on raised spas with a spillway heading into the pool. The old check valve was no longer properly working. So we took out its internals and replaced it with a union check valve in a different location. Yes you can just replace the old internals on most check valves.
