Khatija from the Economic Crime Unit is here to give you top tips to protect yourself and your loved ones from #courierfraud 👆 Fraudsters are always coming up with new ways to scam people, but there are some common things you can look out for to protect yourself. 🚫 Remember the bank or police will never ask for help with an investigation; to withdraw cash, purchase high value items or to provide your bank card or PIN number. 💳 Your debit or credit card is yours: don’t let a stranger take it from you. You should only ever have to hand it over at your bank. If it’s cancelled or expired, you should destroy it yourself. ☎️ If you receive an unexpected call, hang up, wait a few moments as fraudsters may stay on the line after you hang up, and call a number known to you to confirm their identity and the legitimacy of the call. Where possible, use a different phone line altogether. If you think you have been a victim of courier fraud, contact your bank immediately and then report to Action Fraud online at actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040 Search 'wmp courier fraud' for more information
