@thestrokeassociation: When it comes to stroke, it doesn't have to look serious to be serious. Fresh from the Melbourne Marathon, Jack had no idea he was about to film himself having a stroke. But when he hit record during his training session, his symptoms soon began to appear. Unaware of their severity, he continues unabated and in good humour. "Everything seemed fine and I was my usual self. I kicked the bag for a few minutes, but a sudden loss of balance and breath rocked me. "Unknowingly, the right side of my face droops, and confusion sets in." At the time, Jack thought his symptoms might have something to do with low blood sugar and post-marathon recovery, but his friend Josh became concerned at the sight of Jack repeatedly fumbling his boxing glove. "Josh recognised something was wrong, and called [the emergency services]. Soon after, I lost speech, and my right side went numb." Despite recovering, Jack had a second episode in hospital, and required keyhole surgery to retrieve the clot from the front side of his brain. "Three hours later, I woke up in recovery, fortunate to have escaped with no lasting effects. "Despite being young, fit, and generally healthy, I learned I’m not invincible. Juggling training, socialising, and running a business finally caught up with me. 4 weeks on, I have returned to doing what I love: coaching, training, socialising and running a business. "The experience highlights the importance of recognising stroke signs and acting swiftly. Face, Arms, Speech, Time – the FAST [test] proved crucial. This incident shows that awareness can be the difference between a full recovery and a challenging rehabilitation route." If you see anything out of the ordinary this festive period, #ActFAST and call 999. A quick response can mean a quick recovery. You only need to see ONE of the FAST symptoms before acting on them. #fyp #Stroke #YoungStrokeSurvivor #FitTok #Fitness #StrokeAwareness #Recovery #Health #ForYouPage

oh my gosh thanks for sharing. this needs to be everywhere. I've never seen a stroke IRL and never seen one look like this on screen. Good on his mate for calling out when something didn't seem right.
