Regretful for decisions in haste, which led him to where he now dwells. Wrapped around his thin body, a ponderous, hulking chain. He forged it link by link. He must have been insane. A victim of greed's evil talons. Money, the love of his life. Humankind should have been his business, If life were a woman, his wife. Alas, he squandered his being, never to throw the urchins a scrap. Instead, counting coins with his partner, whose facing the same moral trap. For Ebeneezer Scrooge, sins are huge, and Marley must repent to clear the slate. Drops to his knees, to pray with ease, to change poor Scrooge's fate. Ah, but a prayer spoke in depths of hell, is a curious, unlikely affair. Yet fate is a woman, with a good heart, and so her goodwill she'll share. Three ancient ghosts are summoned, to Scrooge and Marley's shop. With Jacob himself, leading the fray, the construction of a new chain to stop. “Thank you very much”, Marley tells the ghosts, in a quest to reverse subterfuge.
