Easier way is to check the resistance thru them with a multimeter. Can even check them without removing the valve cover. Long as they’re from .1-2 ohms they’re good

Jesus Christ hook a test light on battery positive. then though uvch plug for glow plug. unless you already have the plugs out for something else

Yeah, they’ll still work like that and be bad by resistance specs. Not a good way to test them.

some VW have them with pressure transducers. (a cylinder pressure sensor)

you can also test them installed with a test light. Hook the test light too the positive terminal on your battery then pin the top end of the glow
