At the end of Colony, we see a zombie that is still moving even though the main threat appears to have been defeated. Most people see this as a simple hint that the outbreak is not over, but I think it could mean something much bigger. My theory is that this zombie is actually "# 2" / " substitude ", the successor to Ko Kyo-wan (# 1). In a colony or hive mind system, it would make little sense for everything to depend on a single leader. If the colony truly evolved into a collective consciousness, it is only logical that there would be a successor prepared to take over if the primary leader fell. Before his death, # 1 may have performed one final transfer through the hive mind network. His memories, experiences, strategies, and knowledge were passed on to # 2. This means that # 2 is not simply a replacement. He is the evolution of . He possesses everything that learned: How humans think. How the colony was defeated. Who the colony's greatest enemies are.
