I’ve wanted to make this video for a while, and with everything going on lately, it feels like the right time. Let’s talk about the fitness industry. Recently, I attended Mr. Olympia, and as I walked through the fitness expo with my team, I found myself feeling a mix of emotions. On one hand, I was thrilled to be there. The expo had a lot of amazing booths and products. I was especially excited to see the @RepFitnessEquipment booth with all their new equipment, and I got to try some incredible brownie flavors from @AlphaPrimeSupps. But where my mixed feelings come in is the reality that events like these often bring out a lot of body image issues. Social media only amplifies this—whether that means tweaking photos, concealing vulnerabilities, or more. A few weeks ago, for instance, Jeff Nippard was assaulted by another fitness influencer after an online disagreement. This incident brought to light the drama that can unfold within the fitness community. Honestly, the fitness industry can sometimes feel as gossipy as a salon. Among local trainers, there’s often a lot of talk, strong opinions, and at times, a lack of respect. Online, the same issues exist—only magnified by ego. Misleading people about your stats or physique is a problem that only fuels feelings of inadequacy. Disagreements in the industry can be constructive if they promote accurate information and different perspectives. Training and nutrition are constantly evolving fields, so collaboration is essential to provide a well-rounded view. At the end of the day, we have an obligation to create impactful content that empowers people to improve themselves through actionable knowledge—not to feed our own egos or undermine others, especially when they have good intentions. The people you’re seeing in this video aren’t here to be critiqued—except for the one who assaulted Jeff. I enjoy a lot of the content others contribute and believe there’s a lot of positivity in the industry. Unfortunately, there’s also plenty of clout-chasing, oversimplifying, and discrediting of valuable contributions. Context is key; rarely is there a straightforward right or wrong.
