You don't need to let it sit as long as me, I just go about my day. This is my favorite clarified cocktail, especially with a molasses/funk forward rum. I recommend a split of Smith and Cross and Cruzan Blackstrap. I also recommend a rich Demerara Syrup, bit turbinado is easier to find. Remember to use paper towels. Coffee filter is the worst. You’ll be waiting hours and hours, and it gets clogged. I filtered mine in 45 minutes. I like to add milk to my cocktail, and I let mine sit for hours before filtering it, mainly because I think it makes filtering go faster and because I go about my day. If you don't want to clarify this, I'd start with half a cup of water for dilution and use your judgment on taste as far as dilution goes. This is a drink that should be shaken or even thrown in the blender to froth it up. Leaving this in a big bowl will not be as good. We want texture, we want air, we want it to POP 🎉 No grapefruit cordial recipe because I made a hagard syrup. lol I like it, but it's bitter, so I wouldn't recommend it to you.
