@thecraftyscienceteacher: One thing my students struggled with when using a plate boundary map to identify geological features was differentiating between continental and oceanic crust. I assumed my students knew the difference between land and water but once we got into reading the plate boundary maps I found that a lot of them struggled with this because of the added boundary lines on the map. I took some time to have students color a plate boundary map identifying the continental and oceanic crust. They put it in their notebooks and were able to reference it throughout our plate tectonics unit. #middleschoolscience
