That’s interesting, I stayed in KR for 2 months for 2023 summer school, my credit card worked everywhere, naver map’s amazing and the local restaurants serve delicious food. Yes the trash bin part 💀

just a tip for food: food in touristy spots WILL be mid but any restaurant thats close to gov buildings (like city hall) are fantastic

i second the airport bit. WHY?!! I was browsing tbe menu at the foodcourt while someone was still ordering & a staff came up telling me they don't take orders anymore! don't even dare walk into bakery

I went there in Oct-Nov 2023, the apps that I relied the most in Naver Maps. It is very helpful especially if you took bus. For Kakao, you can opt to pay cash but local number is required.

you can use kakao T without a local id/ number if you select the “pay to driver” option, but that’s only offered for general taxis so you won’t be able to call larger taxis if u have luggage n stuff

WRONG. Credit cards will work everywhere LOL the only time i used cash was literally at food stalls on the street. I used my Canadian credit cards

tip for people that want specific products from OliveYoung: Download their app, search for the product; it will show stores that have it in stock. It's super tiring to find some popular stuff otherwis

public toilets are also easy to find. certain places have open access, subways are only bad in popular areas, parks are hit or miss, going up in a building there's a better chance of an open toilet.

I was there in December and had no cash until day 3 of my trip. Got by just fine using my debit/credit cards. Even my Namane transport card top-up was done through a credit card online transaction.

you can definitely pay with apple pay!! a few stores allow it but it’s not often and you can use your card everywhere.

ive been going back & forth & i could use my cards w/no issues at all. only thing i agree on this is myeongdeong & hongdae being very touristy but i mean theres the rest of seoul
