@phasmidhunter0: i genuinely cant begin to describe how much i love every silent hill (1-4)’s osts. in silent hill 3 they took a more musical approach to it instead of making it a main goal to use more silence than music like they did in the other games. i like how they still found ways to make it just as creepy with each approach. the vocals are done by mary elizabeth mcglynn while all the songwriting was done by akira yamaoka who specifically requested to see none of the game while he was writing music so he could base it more off of raw emotion rather than trying to make it “for the game”. each soundtrack is beautiful in its own way, while also being very different. when listening to it on its own, if you want to appreciate a more musical side, i seriously reccomend listening to the silent hill 3 ost. if youre interested in listening to ways that akira tried making musical ambience, i reccomend checking out 1,2, and 4. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
