@carolinemiddelsdorf: Have you heard of the grey rock 🪨 method? ⬇️ The Grey Rock Method is a strategy used to interact with a narcissist while minimizing your emotional engagement. It basically means that you become and act as uninteresting and unresponsive as a grey rock, making it less likely for the narcissist to manipulate or provoke emotional reactions - that’s what the narcissist is basically looking for. 1️⃣Limit your emotional reactions and responses. Keep your facial expressions, tone, and body language neutral to avoid giving the narcissist any emotional satisfaction or manipulation cues. 2️⃣Keep your responses short, simple, and uninteresting. Avoid offering personal information or engaging in discussions that could be used against you. 3️⃣Clearly establish and enforce your boundaries. Refuse to be drawn into arguments, emotional manipulation, or drama. Maintain a calm and assertive demeanor. 4️⃣Narcissists often use personal information to manipulate or exploit. Keep conversations focused on neutral, unimportant topics to protect yourself. 5️⃣Whenever possible, reduce or limit contact with the narcissist. This can help minimize the opportunity for manipulation and maintain your emotional well-being. 6️⃣Seek support from friends, family, coach or therapist . Having a strong support system around you is really important. Don’t shy away from reaching out to someone. Often people in relationships with a narcissist suffer in silence and alone. They feel ashamed reaching out for support.
