@pokeypotpie: 🐈 🐈‍⬛ 2023 Foster Highlights!🐈‍⬛🐈 . This was a year of long-term, special-needs fosters! . While most fosters in the rescue get adopted within 30-45 days, we had a lot of long-haulers this year! (We also had a bunch of temp and short-term guests as well!). All told, we hosted 45 sweet cats and kittens in 2023. . We began the year with a bunch of carryovers from 2022. Sweet Silver-Eyed Olive left right after the New Year, while we continued to love and adore blind Vivianne and Iggy, twins Hadrian and Augustus, sweet Danica, and ridiculously adorable Possum. . Then along came a potato (Appa!) and mischievous Harvey Dent, who underwent an extensive reconstructive surgery to repair an electrical injury to his mouth. While Appa moved on, Sully the CH Scottish Fold moved in, and an adorable friendship was made. . Next came Nour, who flew from Egypt to have his painful eyes fixed. We then took in the Kuwaiti cuties, Alana, Aurora, Angela, and Chipie. While Chipie needed some help getting a paw issue under control, the triad sisters took their time finding their forevers. One-eyed little Lucy and tiny terrified Rabbit came next. . Then within a week, we welcomed The Big Cheek Club- Valentine, Philly Pokey, and Grey. Val brought us Ringworm and smooches, while Philly Pokey and Grey brought us the most amazing and unexpected friendship I’ve ever witnessed. . It was a tough year with Hadrian’s death, lots of medications, a bazillion vet appointments, an inordinate amount of cleaning, and a lot of stress over wondering when or if our special needs babies would find homes. It was especially challenging given all of my work travel and the health needs of our own cats, but it was also a wonderful year with so many success stories and so many great adoptions!
