Make sure the extra is allocated for the PRINCIPAL- if possible! We've been doing this for quite a few years. Only $100, but its better than $0.

I figured out how much 3 extra payments a year would be and divided that by 12. I add that $ to principal every month. That shortens ours by 6.7 years.

This is 100% true! We bought our house in November 2018. We had a 30 year mortgage but we’ll be done paying it off in 4 years or less. We too have a 4 bedroom house, 2 full baths, & 2 car garage.
