i’m coast salish & i was taught not to buy things for baby until after they are born, but we accept gifts from family & friends.

I’m from Kazakhstan and we have exactly the same situation. It’s considered to be a bad luck to buy anything before baby’s arrival.

my grandmother from Poland. believed it unlucky to make specific things for a baby b4 birth. so if she went to a showere she gave diapers ect.once baby was born she made a special gift for it .

Same thing in my Alaskan culture! We were always told to buy stuff after baby is born, cause we never know if they will be alive, or asleep
