Can you imagine if this was your city? I can't even begin to imagine what people in Aleppo experienced, to finally be rebuilding their city and then be hit by a devastating earthquake. But it always seems to be the people who have been through some of the hardest things that have the most hope and joy. We met countless people in Syria who, even though they shared horrific things that our minds still don't want to comprehend, were filled were an amazing joy. Two examples of this were the shawarma sellers (I smile every time I watch that clip!) and the men who invited us for tea at the end of this video. We were literally just walking by when they invited us to sit down with them for tea. They got emotional as they told us about what they'd experienced. But they kept saying how grateful they are for what they have. It hit me as I was sitting there how I would have never imagined visiting Syria, let alone be sitting in the street in Aleppo with random men we'd just met. But because of interactions like this, we have more hope about the world than ever before. Also a funny story with the men - they loved showing us their pets, but then at one point they picked up a random pigeon off the street and kissed it. Then he held it up for Hud to kiss it...so guess what he did! Hahaha we will never forget this interaction and are so inspired by all the people we met in Aleppo! P.S. the text says Aleppo is Syria's largest city but it's now the second largest, Damascus is the first. * We visited Syria last year and made these videos then, but did not post them at the time. We met amazing people and felt safe during our visit. Through these videos, we hope to share about the incredible people of Syria along with the unimaginable difficulties they have faced. We want to focus on people over politics and won't be responding to any political comments. Thank you to everyone we met in Syria! * #syriatravel #syria #visitsyria
