@the.truth.doctor: Four uncommonly known signs of autism in young girls: 1. Internalizing Behaviors: Instead of acting out physically, girls with autism might internalize their struggles, leading to issues like anxiety or substance use. These internal struggles can overshadow the underlying signs of autism. 2. Sophisticated Vocabulary: Some autistic girls develop an extensive vocabulary at a young age and may be quite verbal, which can mask difficulties with everyday social communication and the pragmatic use of language. 3. Difficulty with Unstructured Social Play: While they may engage in imaginative play, some autistic girls can find unstructured social interactions challenging. They may prefer activities with clear rules or guidelines and struggle with the unpredictable nature of free play with peers. 4. Sensory Sensitivities: Sensory issues might be more subtle in girls. They may have specific and less recognized sensory preferences or aversions, such as discomfort with certain clothing textures, sounds, or foods, which might not be immediately linked to autism. I was formally diagnosed as autistic at age 32, ten years after my BPD diagnosis. I highly encourage early assessment if and whenever possible ❤️ #MentalHealth #therapy #therapist #wellness #ASD #autisminwomen #autismingirls #adhd #autism #latediagnosedautistic #autistic

My son has autism. It wasn’t until I began growing in knowledge while raising him that I realized I can personally relate to many things he experiences

I’m undiagnosed at the moment, but if what I think is true, and that I am autistic, my whole life wasn’t me just being lazy or a failure 😞

This is an excellent way to describe it. I can see underwater now. Things finally make sense. What hurts is how much time it took. 🥺

Did the BPD diagnosis still ‘stick’ after your autism diagnosis? Or were those symptoms actually signs of autism?

What symptoms did you have that led to your diagnosis? A lot of people think I have some sort of neurodiversity, but I have really bad anxiety so it's
