The difference is you need a place to live. Yeah, 3k vs 5k, but my investment opportunity is not 5k, it’s 2k after rent. Is 2k going to grow as fast as 3k in a house? Nah, it’s not.

Only issue with this logic is the comparable home for rent to the one you buy isn’t $2,000 a month to rent vs $3,000 to buy. I’m renting my home to someone for the price that their mortgage would be.
