I don’t think it was ever supposed to develop your glutes. I think it was to finish the movement. You shouldn’t be over doing to the point it hurts

A pelvic tilt is ok at the top of a squat? lengthening of the glute at the bottom is obviously good for growth I don't think there's back problems tho
