@grovehousereno: ❄️FREEZE ALERT❄️ don't let the cold snap this week flood your house. Here are a few things you need to do before the temperatures drop 🥶 1) Shut off the water supply to your hose bibs from the inside. Older homes may not have a valve on the interior side. If that's the case, leave the hose bib dripping slightly when temps are below freezing. Consider adding an interior valve ASAP. Also consider installing frost free bibs which are ideal for cold climate zones. 2) Drain what's left in the hose bib line past the valve. You can leave the outdoor bib valve open if you have an interior valve. If you have a frost free valve, you can leave it closed. 3) Insulate your bib with a hard faucet cover. This foam cozy helps trap heat coming from your exterior walls around your bib. They're cheap and worth keeping around! 4) Locate the main water supply coming into your home. This should be where all of your water lines extend from. This valve needs to be easily accessible in the event of a water supply line freeze and burst, you'll need to shut you water off immediately to limit damage to your home. #winterprep #winter #freezingtemps #coldsnap #housemaintenance #homemaintenance #pipes #iceandsnow #homeowner #tipsandtricks
