@balanceyourpalate: SOFTEST CHAPATI’s at home
Quick and simple chapati recipe to accompany any veggies or curry. Follow this tutorial to learn how to make it with just 4 basic ingredients!
Makes 6-8 chapatis:
🔶2 cups wholewheat flour – extra for dusting
🔸1 tsp salt
🔸1 cup lukewarm water
🔸Oil/ghee for drizzling
Method:
1. Mix the salt and flour in a bowl, and start adding the lukewarm water bit by bit while kneading
2. Knead into a soft but not sticky dough for 5 minutes till smooth
3. Add a little oil and knead again for 1 min before leaving it to rest for 30 mins at least.
4. After the resting period, knead the dough again for a few seconds - it will be smoother now
5. Divide into smaller sections and roll each one into a ball, rest for a few mins
6. Meanwhile, heat a non-stick tawa (flat pan) and grease with oil or ghee
7. Using a rolling pin, roll each one into a flat circle using extra flour as needed
8. Place your rolled chapati on the tawa and drizzle a little oil or ghee. Once it changes colour after about 10-15 seconds, flip and cook while rotating and pressing using a tissue or cloth.
9. Flip again to cook the other side
10. Stack your chapati’s covering it with a towel or plate to keep them warm
I have a chapati box to keep mine nice and warm 😍
