@nowthisimpact: An Oregon physics teacher says he was ‘pretty surprised’ when a missing Alaska Airlines door panel turned up in his backyard. Authorities believe that the discovery could provide crucial information as to why the panel ultimately detached. Bob Sauer found the panel, known as a door plug, a few days after the initial incident. The door plug ripped off shortly after a flight from Portland, Oregon, took off on January 5, creating a large opening in the aircraft’s fuselage. The flight was able to land safely, with none of the 171 passengers or 6 crew members sustaining any serious injuries. The plane’s interior was, however, seriously damaged. Sauer found the door plug nestled in trees, relatively intact. Authorities are currently investigating the incident. #WatchThis #alaskaairlines #boeing #airplanes #news
