@the_shoestring_home: I love a challenge and this filthy looking Oliver Bonas chair that I found on @Facebook for £10 was certainly that! I loved the shape but it was badly stained so I decided to use up some leftover paint and try the hack that I’ve had saved since my lovely friend Joey @ouremporium did one ages back. I’m so happy and it feels soft and not a crack in sight thanks to the fabric softener paint mix. Here’s how I did it … ⭐️ Gave the chair a MASSIVE clean. I hoovered & used upholstery cleaner as the chair was gross but as long as you vacuum up any dust you’ll be good ⭐️ In a spray bottle made a 50/50 water and fabric softener mix, sprayed over the whole chair liberally ⭐️ Made a paint mix ( I used left over Valspar wall paint) of half paint and half fabric softener . It looks weird but keep mixing until it thickens. ⭐️ Paint chair ( I just used a regular brush) and leave to dry. This took overnight for me ⭐️ Sand chair gently- it gets soooo soft! ⭐️ Repeat steps of painting and sanding if needed I also hated the yellowy wood on the legs so stripped them back too and finished with a wax. I know lots of other creators have done variations on this hack or other fab painted chairs such as @maxine.home and @thewhitethistle if you are looking for ideas I’m genuinely so thrilled with the results, any such a bargain!
