@thepantryboy: How to dial in Espresso in your SMEG EGF03 Dialing in your espresso is the start to achieving great espresso with any coffee machine. Here’s a basic way of how to dial in an espresso with the SMEG EGF03. The portafilter basket we are using for this is for a double shot espresso that takes in 18g of coffee and follows a brew ratio of 1:2. For example, 18g of coffee bean ground will yield 36g of espresso. 1. Fill grinder with espresso roast coffee beans 2. Place a cup on a weighing scale underneath the grinder 3. Set grinder to a mid grind setting (around 4-5), press and hold the grind button for 3 seconds to recalibrate the grind duration 4. Allow machine to grind beans till 18g of beans have been grounded 5. Press the grind button one more time to stop the grinding and set in the calibration 6. Move the weighing scale underneath the group head and place a cup over the scale 7. Tamp coffee grounds, extract espresso by pressing and holding the double shot button for 3 seconds to calibrate brewing duration (*Start a timer when the coffee machine begins the brew process) 8. The ideal time it should take to brew 36g of espresso is between 28-32 seconds 9. If the brew time is too quick, adjust grind size tighter and vice versa if the brew time is too slow (Repeat step 2-7 to calibrate till ideal time) Feel free to ask questions in the comments and share your experience with us! #coffeetiktok #coffeetiktok #coffeetime #espresso #espressomachine #settingup #sgfoodie #comfortfood
