The story of Abraham and Isaac basically debunks your theory here. Abraham existed long before Moses so if early Old Testament Yahweh demanded child sacrifices why would he text Abraham by asking him to do something that your claiming is a normal part of the faith? Why would Abraham see it as horrific? Why would Yahweh then send a angel to stop Abraham and offer a animal in his stead?

This is why you have to read in context… I’m not going to even mention Abraham and Isaac but I will bring up your point in Exodus. That verse is specific to circumcision. If God wanted the first children of the Hebrews, then he wouldn’t have told them to put the blood of the lamb above their door post when the Death Angel came to take the firstborn sons of the Egyptians. Which if you don’t know, He did because 1 pharaoh committed infantcide against the Hebrews when he took them as slaves. God gave him time, signs, and warnings to repent and let His people go, but pharaoh refused.
