@aaron_kubaldc: You brought this on yourselves @Therabody This is why I never accept brand deals… Because brands LIE like this CONSTANTLY lol People in pain are extremely vulnerable to false claims because they’re desperate… Which is why I don’t tolerate this sh*t. I don’t have any issue with massage guns; I have issues with how they’re marketed. All we can really say is that stuff that vibrates might feel good. Across the board, all the rubbing & vibrating products seem to work the same. Vibration can give transient increases in range of motion… But so can pretty much anything. That’s just a dumb nervous system trick that people use to sell sh*t. Just because one costs $500 doesn’t mean it’s more effective than one that costs $40… You need way better evidence to make that claim. Good research takes months/years & gets published in quality journals. If a study takes less than 6 weeks & the only place it gets published is on a company’s website… You don’t need to bother reading it. I promise it’s sh*t. It’s true that you can find research to say anything you want… But that doesn’t mean it’s good enough research to justify your claim. #massagegun #massageguns #theragun #theragung3pro #hypervolt
I actually did an experiment with this using the scientific method. First, I did a couple hundred squats and my quads were very sore the next day. This one is the control, no massage gun. I logged it, it took about 1 one before it wasn’t constantly bothering me and 2 weeks before the soreness went away completely. 2nd test, I did the same amount of squats, but this time I used a massage gun every day. This time, it was manageable in only about 2 or 3 days and went away completely in 6 days. 3rd test same amount of squats, massage gun once every two days. It became manageable in 4 days and went away completely in 10. I’m planning on doing this experiment with my calves, biceps/triceps, and shoulders.

Doesn’t this directly help with pain management due to the pain gate theory? When you hurt your thumb you rub it and pain goes away.

I have pain in my calves that makes it hard to sleep. If I grind them with a massage gun for a while they relax and I rest well. Sometimes the line between treatment and placebo is blurry.

My massager literally just helped me get a painful cramp out of the middle of my back that kept me awake. That’s the only reason why I’m here 😭

Idk I have one and for me it really works for self massage. It’s an easy way to relax my muscles after a workout.

Now, if you grab the ball part with your hand and stick your finger out it can help some forms of relaxation. 😂😂

Does the same apply to rolling? I thought massage guns were just a fancy way to achieve the same effect.

Not going to lie there are great outcomes when using them in clinical settings. They aren’t going to break up adhesions or change the structure of muscle but they can helps relax the muscle and tension in the area.
