Opal update 1/28 3PM First off, I’d like to tell everyone thank you so much for your kind messages and comments. Times like these are hard and on top of that the internet can be a cruel place. I receive a lot of horrible comments from people who don’t care to read captions and from people who make assumptions. I have been fostering rescues for 7 years now and have had many heartbreaks, it’s never easy to navigate. I would like everyone to know Opal is her rescue, and my top priority. She is in the hands of amazing vets and whatever obstacles she faces, she isn’t facing alone, she has an army behind her fighting for her life. Please make sure if you’re donating for Opal, it is to Pippys Pals Rescue in Houston, TX. A lot of scam pages are stealing opals vidoes and asking for money on random PayPal’s. Medical update: We are not anywhere close to out of the woods on this, but we are feeling ever so slightly optimistic based on a few small movements in the right direction. - A new blood test showed slight improvements in her anemia levels so we have not had to transfuse yet, but that is still a possibility if anything changes - Despite 3 negative fecal cultures, she has a high parasite load and worms were seen in free fluid in her abdomen. The vets are doing an aspiration of the fluid to hopefully identify the worms and move forward with the appropriate treatment - She is showing more interest in eating on her own but is having trouble going to the bathroom so the vets are manually expressing her bladder - She has moments of being more alert and vets said she even barked this morning Right now, we are still in the stage of preparing for the worst but hoping for the best since we have seen a tiny amount of progress. It will likely be at least 3 more days in critical care, if not through the weekend. Opal is a fighter and we are hoping we have a day in the near future where she can walk and play. If all remains the same with her treatment plan, the rescue is looking at about $2k/day in maintenance fees - hospitalization fees, feeding tube, exams and labs, etc To donate to Opals medical bills: 🤍 SMS - text PIPPYS to 53-555 🤍 Venmo - @pippyspals 🤍 Paypal - foster@pippyspals.com 🤍 Zelle - foster@pippyspals.com 🤍 Website- www.pippyspals.com/donate #opal #rescuedog #adoptdontshop
