@drjabanmoore_: THESE SYMPTOMS EXPLAINED⬇️ 🚺Hair growth on face (Hirsutism): PCOS often involves elevated levels of androgens, including testosterone. This hormonal imbalance leads to hirsutism, causing increased facial or body hair growth. ⚖️Random weight gain: Insulin resistance, a common feature in PCOS, affects how the body uses insulin, leading to increased insulin levels. Elevated insulin levels can contribute to weight gain, especially around the abdomen. 💥Estrogen dominance: While PCOS typically involves higher androgen levels, estrogen levels can also be imbalanced relative to progesterone, leading to a state of estrogen dominance. This imbalance can disrupt normal menstrual cycles & lead to PCOS symptoms. 😳Oily skin on face: Androgen excess in PCOS can lead to increased sebum production by the skin glands, resulting in oily skin, which can lead to acne. 🩸Menstrual problems: Hormonal imbalances, particularly high androgen levels & disrupted estrogen-progesterone balance, can lead to irregular menstrual cycles, missed periods, or periods that are heavier or lighter than usual. 🔥Severe acne that doesn’t respond to treatments: Excessive androgen activity in PCOS can trigger increased sebum production & skin cell turnover, leading to severe & persistent acne that might not respond well to typical acne treatments. 💪Skin tags or dark patches: Insulin resistance in PCOS can lead to higher insulin levels, which may contribute to skin changes like the development of skin tags or darkened patches known as acanthosis nigricans. Diagnosing PCOS requires multiple tests & exams. Plus, the Rotterdam criteria are often used for diagnosis, requiring the presence of at least two out of three criteria: irregular menstrual cycles, signs of hyperandrogenism (like excess hair growth/acne), and/or polycystic ovaries on ultrasound!
