@history.mae: The body is so well preserved that the family believed him to be the victim of a recent murder! Scientists believed that Tollund Man was hung as a sacrifice and not an execution. They have multiples reasons for believing this: only human sacrifices were buried without being cremated, he was buried in a place which was used to communicate with many gods in early Europe and his death occurred around winter/spring which was a common time for sacrifices back then. His body was also handled with care, a sign of respect that a criminal would not have received. #history #archaeology #tollundman #denmark #historytok
