How do you find a local hedge layer? Are all tree types suitable?

Actually hedge laying not coppicing. We coppice old worn hedges, then “gap up” and lay about 10 years later!🥰

My great grandfather was apparently a champion award winning hedge planter. A lot of his hedges are still alive today.

I managed a large nature reserve, we had many hedges which we allowed volunteers to help lay. They made as many bad cuts as good, it wasn’t award winning but it survived damage you’re describing.
