it's bc in sri Lanka. after it dies they hand pack layers in side of a flat piece of bark... it's just the way different regions harvest and pack there cinnamon

There are all types of cinnamon actually from all over the world. I have some Cambodian cinnamon of all things I got it at TJ Maxx.
