@flyfishfood: Brig Ties his Favorite Streamer Pattern | the Rippin Rooster I was talking with Lance Egan at the shop one day and mentioned my issue with the fish not committing. He gave me some great advice to switch directions right as the fish came close to my fly. Surprise, surprise, it worked! I did run into some issues with the fly line spooking the fish when l'd switch directions, so I knew there was a way to design a streamer that could do this with much less effort The schlappen mixed with the articulation of this fly makes it easy to get the same movement. Take a slight pause as soon as the fish follows and then STRIP once and BOOM! It will entice the fish to strike! I have had success using the Rippin Rooster on rivers and lakes in Utah, Idaho and Montana. Tie one up for yourself and let me know how it works near you!
