$840 China’s Luxury First Class High-Speed Train Experience 🇨🇳 | After seeing China’s Lixurious high speed trains everywhere online, I wanted to experience one for myself. I booked a return journey between Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station, including the G22 Fuxing high speed train, with the return ticket costing close to $840 The premium cabin had just 5 seats, with huge electrically adjustable seats that could even rotate to face either direction. Surprisingly, though, I preferred the privacy of the cabin below it, where you get a much more enclosed personal space. Different China Railway trains can also have different premium cabin layouts, so you may not necessarily get this exact configuration. What impressed me most was how incredibly smooth the train was at high speed. I even tested it by balancing a coin by the window while moving. The crew were another highlight, incredibly friendly and even using translation tools to communicate with me and make sure I had everything I needed. The biggest disappointment was the food. For such an expensive ticket, I wasn’t expecting a heated meal served in plastic packaging. You do also receive slippers, basic amenities, a snack box, water and juice throughout the journey. Overall, I’m glad I experienced China’s premium high speed rail for myself, but I personally didn’t find the top cabin worth the price. Next time, I’d save the money and travel in the cabin below, or even try the standard seating.
