let me give you a new outlook 👇🏼 As a teacher I got up every morning, got dressed, did my hair and makeup, and made myself “presentable” for my job. Why is it deemed extra, vain, or met with the words “I could never do that”, because I show up for my job as a sahm in the exact same way? Let me give you a little look into how getting “ready” everyday has changed my mental health as a fresh postpartum mom and now as a mom of a 4 & 2 year old. Let me start by saying that getting “ready” looks different to everyone and that’s perfectly okay. For me it looks like: 1. Getting out of my pajamas and putting on an outfit that makes me feel good. 2. Washing my face & ice rolling every morning. 3. Doing my quick everyday makeup routine & styling my hair (aka throwing in dry shampoo and touching up whatever style I started the wash cycle with). It’s not complicated, it takes me 15-20 minutes max, BUT it sets the tone for my whole day. Here are some benefits you should consider 🫶🏻👇🏼 - Signals a fresh start: Getting dressed marks a mental shift from “just woke up” to “I’m ready to go,” even if you’re staying home. - Improves mood: Small self-care rituals like doing your hair or putting on fresh clothes can naturally lift your spirits. - Reduces the “stuck in a rut” feeling: Breaking the pajama cycle helps prevent that sluggish, aimless mood from setting in. - Helps maintain your identity: Reminds you that you’re still you outside of your role as mom. - Encourages productivity: Feeling prepared often leads to getting more done and moving through the day with more purpose. - Teaches self-respect: Models to your kids that you matter and deserve to care for yourself daily. - Acts as a form of self-care: Even 10 minutes spent on yourself is an investment in your mental and emotional well-being. This is something I FULLY believe in, and reap the benefits of daily. Do you do this already?? Give it a full weeks effort and come back and let me know how you feel 🫶🏻
