My wife and I spent 2 weeks deep in the Amazon Rain Forest. We had 2 wonderful guides that grew up there and their tribe still lives. One of the things that I wanted to do was fish for piranha. We rode the peki peki (wooden boat) most of the day, thru VERY sketchy waters, and after getting stuck in the reeds multiple times, we made it to the black water. We were handed a long stick with a hook. We put our piece of meat on the hook and the moment, I mean THE MOMENT, it hit the water, you could feel your line being attacked. By the time you thought of pulling it up, the meat was already gone. These are the only fish, I never took off the hook and let our guides, Johnny or Pepe do it. It was bad enough that one time, a piranha jumped out the water and in between my feet, just flopping around😳😳. You can’t make quick movements in the boat (peki peki) because it will tip over. I can honestly tell you, that when a piranha is flopping in between your feet, and one wrong move and your the piranha’s next meal, you figure out how to methodically stand up in the blink of an eye😳😳😂😂. But we caught many piranhas and had a great day! We ate them at the end of the day. They were definitely less fishy tasting, than I thought they would be, but it was weird eating them, just because they’re creepy🙄🙄🤣🤣. These are red belly piranhas. Thanks for reading!#Amazon #Peru #DeepInTheAmazon #PekiPeki #PiranhaFishing #RedBellyPiranha
