You can also be a housekeeper for vacation homes and they will literally pay you to eat their food and sleep there as long as you take care of the house.

I had two very different aupair experiences. I didn't stay with the first family for longer than 3 weeks. the second IS my family now. it's been 5 years and I still regularly visit every year.
