She's wrong, it is a cornbread batter. she might be thinking of a breakfast variety which has a breakfast sausage surrounded with a pancake batter.

When I was pregnant with my last child I couldn’t stand corndogs 😂 the smell of them was disgusting not to mention the taste but when I was a kid I loved them with ketchup and mustard 👍🏻

There’s Pronto Pup which uses pancake batter, corn dog uses corn bread batter. Muster is the only condiment 🔥
