apparently ppl in America have problems with vegemite on bread because American bread is much sweeter than aus bread. so the sweet doesn't compliment

New Zealanders prefer Marmite. And yes, eaten regularly since childhood. A lettuce, cheese and marmite sandwich is great. Not with American cheese though.

It's something you build tolerance. Starting off, yes use the smallest amount. But after years some of us eat a spoonful or two straight off the spoon.

We only recommend this method for people trying it first time Personally, I do a decent amount of Vegemite on my toast stop using it like it's natella

I put a big spoon of Vegemite or marmite (whichever I have) into my lamb chop marinade. it's got such an intensely savoury flavour. on toast there's nowt to balance it with so you only need a smidge

I don't think people read the jar properly. It's an extract, extracts are super strong! Eg vanilla extract vs essence.

Vegemite is great, but think of it like solid soy sauce — it’s an enhancer to the rest of the dish. Goes super well on a grilled cheese for instance

We also use it as an easy way to treat mouth ulcers. Just put a dab on and scream into a pillow because while it works well it stings like a btch.

A jar of Vegemite lasts my husband and I a good 2 years. We eat it often. So… yes… you apply sparingly.
