@rowenberrycosplay: How I bustle my Sophie dress! I love my Edwardian Sophie hatter dress, but her skirt is very long, and it would get stepped on and damaged if I wore it to a convention like this. So I added a feature that lets me bustle the skirt, like they do for wedding gowns with trains. I sewed a button at the back of the dress that allows me to pick up the train, and it attaches to a loop on the waist band. Important to note: the button is sewed on top of a seam, which I reinforced with interfacing so the fine satin wouldn’t stretch or tear.
