@ottawamilling: Milling black beech with Alaskan chainsaw mill. To start milling, you put a ladder on top of the log to create a flat surface. You set the mill to cut below the ladder and once that first cut is made, you can co tongue to cut on that new flat surface. Black beech is an underated wood. I love the contrast with sapwood and Heartwood.
