Today is day 100 in a row of publishing a performance art video everyday. The number one question I get is, "Why?" Why am I doing this everyday? When I was in art school, a group of Tibetan monks came to visit our campus. Everyday, two monks went to the art gallery and poured colorful sand on the floor. Slowly, methodically, they created intricate patterns, called mandalas. It took weeks to finish. Before leaving, they held a ceremony in the gallery, with chanting and bells. Then they swept up the sand, destroying the mandalas, to finish their ritual ceremony. They collected the sand and brought it to a stream, where they released it back into nature. I think of my videos as a daily, meditative practice. Clay comes from nature. It's just mud and water, and it can be recycled infinitely. There is something magical, almost spiritual to this practice, which is helping me grow as an artist. So, I'm going to stay committed to it. I'm also deeply inspired by filmmaker Casey Neistat, who made painstakingly intricate, daily movies for more than two years, every single day non-stop. That level of commitment is fucking flabbergasting. He inspired me to commit to pushing the boundaries of my art everyday, and it's helped me reach literally a BILLION new people with my art. So, if the spirit moves you, please tag @Casey Neistat in a comment and say, "Yo @caseyneistat @cherricopottery says thank you!" and I'll pick one comment to win a free Moon Mug before July 2nd. Thank you for following my art. 🔊 "The Well of Loneliness" by Ucis
