@claudzgaff: Things people don’t tell you about living in old houses. Do I like living in a my period property, yes yes I do. Does it come with some negatives, yes yes it does. Would I swap it…no. But you should know, it’s not all pretty fireplaces, stained glass windows and original features. The period property struggle is reeeeeeeeaaal. Let me know any of your period property quirks. #periodproperty #periodinterior #edwardianhouse #victorianhouserenovation #houserenovationuk #georgianproperty #oldhousesoftiktok
I decided to give up on new builds and get a character property, 4 years later and I'm still working on it every week 😂

Boiling hot in the summer? No, my aircon is retired now that we live in a period home. Don't need it anymore, it cools down very nicely

Don’t forget the 2-3 layers of tiling in the bathroom. Maybe with questionable original house tiling intack. 🫠

We lived in a house built in the 1900’s, it was beautiful but a nightmare so we moved to built in the 1600’ 😂

Half of our electrics were actually phone wire & when we took down plasterboard in fake arch between dining & kitchen, found there was no lintel & wondered why the back of the house hadn't fallen down

Our house had a toilet in the middle of the dining room 🙈 plus side it was brand new so we used it to replace the scary old downstairs loo 😂

I’ve never lived in a house that’s less than a 100 years old so that’s just standard.
