When I’m in the car(as a passenger) I will fingerspell all the signs I ride past. But I’m also learning the words.

Do you mind me asking about your sign for “sign language” I took 3 semesters of ASL last year but have never seen that sign before. Is that a slang or more local sign for it or is it not the ASL sign?

i had a deaf-blind family friend who could not see with enough visual acuity to sign and was also quadraplegic so tactile asl wasnt possible. we would put our hand right in front of his eyes and spell

I do both, I sign what I have learned and finger spell the rest. I only have one friend who is HOH so it’s hard to practice.
