@geckoemmy: Beak deformities like prognathism can present challenges to a rescued parrot’s already difficult life. Some parrots have been traumatized previously by having their beaks or nails done in a frightening setting. They may relive that experience every time and that’s why I try so hard to provide a fear-free grooming experience for every bird that comes to me for a service. Sometimes, the better approach is hands-off! By providing Mr Shelby with a fun challenge for his beak, I’m encouraging him to use it more and wear down his overgrowth by himself.
