I had a lot of lumber leftover from our garage build so I didn’t actually have to buy anything. I glued and screwed the wood together then did both a paint and stain wash to add a little dimension. I sealed it and it is now in my entryway and I love it! Steps: (I used my table saw to square off the rounded edges of my 2” x 4”s but you can buy squared-off 2” x 4”s (total lumber cost would be about $40 at Lowe’s). SUPPLIES 1. 2” x 4” x 12” lumber (6) 2. Liquid nails 3. Screws 4. Paint: Millstone by General Finishes 5. Stain: Greystone by GF and Van Dyke brown glaze by GF 6. Poly: flat topcoat by GF 7. Wood filler 8. Framing square 9. Sanding sponge 10. Sander 1. Cut wood (5 60”, 10 13.5”, 8 17”) 2. Layout 2 13.5” and 1 5’ boards 3. Glue 2 17” boards then screw them to the 13.5” and 5’ 4. Glue 2 13.5” boards and 1 5’ board. Screw them in place. 5. Repeat 3 and 4 until you have the depth you want. 6. Fill cracks with wood filler 7. Sand with 220 8. paint wash using 1:4 paint:water (paint is linked w/ supplies). I used a rag to wipe the paint on because of the slats. 9. stain wash using 1:4 paint:water.
