"It's working. I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm doing better than most people." That might be the most dangerous sentence in your life. One of the enemy's biggest tricks isn't getting you to do something evil. It's getting you to do what feels right to you. Your opinion. Your plan. Your way. It works, so you keep going. You look around, compare yourself to others, and feel fine. But just because it worked before, or is working now, doesn't mean it's what God has for you. That's where we slip into our own power and our own understanding. We're not submitting to God anymore, just to ourselves. And without faith, we can't please Him. The cost is hard to see. You could be good, even successful, while missing a whole other level of impact in your home, marriage, kids, work, and clients. Imagine what happens when you stop running on your own wisdom and start walking with the One who made everything. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." God's Word cuts through your feelings, your opinions, and your excuses. That's why one hour on Sunday isn't enough. If you get a little worship and a good feeling, then go right back to doing life your way on Monday, that's exactly where the enemy wants you. So here's what I'd do. Open your Bible this week, for yourself, for ten minutes a day. Don't just wait for someone else to feed you. Before you make your next big decision, stop and ask, "Lord, what do You say about this?" Then pick the one area where you've been running things your way and hand it over. It'll be uncomfortable. Do it anyway. Let the Word get into you, and walk in faith, not in your own strength.
