Definitely fight it. Ask them for pictures of what the damage is and if you took pictures of how you left it. They should give you an itimized statement of what they are charging you

technically if you lived Ca they have 21 days to return your deposit or your itemized list or they forfeit charging you i dont think that law changed.

gurl this happened to me too, they tried to charge me 1000 dollars for PAINT!! my roommate and i emailed them to get their shit together or we would sue them and they took care of that shit real fast!

That’s renting for you. My apartment charged me the same amount for paint when they literally have to do that anyways. They took the exact amount my deposit was when apartment was in great condition.

Yes always get pictures (print them out) before you move in and show them after. I’ve never gotten a deposit back and always get charged it sucks!

When we left our apartment there was a few broken blinds form sliding door and told us it was $600 to fix it found out Amazon has them for $80!!🤦♀️

You gotta ask them for proof of the vendors quote/receipt they paid to repair the $600 said worth of damage. As a tenant you have that right :)
