I FINALLY got around to trying winter melons after years of being curious about it. This is one of those fruit swear pretty much everyone I know who’s tried. It told me that I wouldn’t like it. I saw smaller ones in the store the other day and figured it was my best bet to try some without a lot going to waste. These get HUGE! Winter melon has a natural coating around it that looks like wax. It is said to be a super fruit packed with health benefits. Some say it is very auspicious and use winter melon as an offering to the gods 🤯 The more I learned about this the more fascinating the fruit became to me 😂 Anywaysssss let’s get back to the flavor. Winter melon is sponges and juicy. The flavor is like a super refreshing less bitter cucumber. The most flavorful part was around the seeds which has a slight acidic taste! The seeds too are edible. I roasted them with salt and olive oil and the flavor was like a mix of sunflower seeds and popcorn. Today it was in the 90s here in Florida so I had to make a shaved ice to go with this. Pretty ironic because most people enjoy winter melon cooked versus in the raw form. I blended the winter melon with lime and ginger then strained it over shaved ice with a little bit of Sotolera syrup. I was really pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the winter melon 🥹 Long story short don’t let other’s opinions on food hold you back from trying new stuff because you never know what you will end up loving ❤️ #wintermelon #TikTokTaughtMe #fruittok
