The most famous is the Baldwin Tower, where the Latin emperor Baldwin of Flanders was imprisoned in 1205. 🏰 In 1393, the fortress was besieged and set on fire by the Ottoman forces, led by the son of Bayazid I, thus marking the fall of the Bulgarian Empire.
