↓It’s funny how the thing I used to do for fun, became my ‘job’… ⁣⁣↓ ⁣⁣ Here are some things I’ve learnt in my first year working as a full time pattern designer/business owner!! ⁣⁣🎨 ⁣⁣ 🌸 It’s really taken me some time to find a balance between ‘work’ and ‘play’ … drawing freely for myself is VERY necessary for creativity!! ⁣⁣ 🌸Working for yourself is literally running a business.. and running a business has sooo many details to tend to!! Not only am I a Pattern designer, I’m also an admin, accountant, marketer among other things 😅⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌸 I realised the importance of raising my prices, taking fewer clients and allowing more me time. Without me being in a good energy, with the energy flowing… everyone’s art would be a load of **** 😋 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌸 This year dear GOD did I overbook myself in some months out of excitement… highly do NOT reccomend saying yes to everything that comes your way… doesn’t end well for both sides of the picture 😅⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌸 Learning to use my OWN voice, not care how others are running their businesses, not look left and right SO much… use it only as inspiration... focus and trust my own intuition and internal compass. Less worrying about what we ‘should’ be doing… no right or wrong 🫶🏼⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And in my opinion, the most IMPORTANT lesson of all … ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌸 It’s okay and NECESSARY to STOP, let go of everything, stop stressing over to do lists and just be. Just enjoy who we are right now and where we are in this moment. Forget ‘progress’ and enjoy what we have created because that was the whole point we started this journey in the first place ✨⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So many of you are Pattern designers, brand owners, aspiring of the two… I’m so excited for you and your journeys.
